10 Essential Suicide Squad Stories

8. Convergence: Suicide Squad (2015)

Suicide Squad Bad Blood
DC Comics

Frank Tieri and Tom Mandrake are behind this particular two-issue mini-series, spinning out from the pages of Convergence. The creative team pits the Pre-Zero Hour Suicide Squad against the aged heroes of Kingdom Come.

Using villains like Cyborg Superman, Star Sapphire, Bane, Deathstroke and Black Manta alongside classic squad members Deadshot, Count Vertigo, Poison Ivy, Bronze Tiger and Captain Boomerang, this may be one of the deadliest Task Force X rosters ever assembled.

After Telos started a battle royale with his captured cities, Waller and her team are tasked with destroying Green Lantern's citadel construct that protects Kingdom Come's Metropolis. The story truly feels like a suicide mission, as the team faces insurmountable odds and betrayal from within their own ranks.

The Suicide Squad mini-series was one of the strongest comics to come out of Convergence, as Tieri demonstrates his knowledge of the Pre-Zero Hour and Kingdom Come universes brilliantly. A perfect yet brief read for any Suicide Squad fan.
