7. Schism
Marvel ComicsWolverine and Cyclops have never exactly gotten along. This is an aspect of their relationship that has been explored numerous times, not only in the comics but also in the various animated series and also the live-action movies. But even with their difficulties, the two men always seemed to have a sort of grudging respect for each other. In recent comics, however, that doesnt seem to be the case. For the root of that problem, and the root of pretty much all of Cyclops actions over the past few years, we have to go back to the Schism storyline. Since moving the X-Men to Utopia off the coast of California, Cyclops actions had become more militaristic. During the Schism story, this culminated in a series of disagreements between both Wolverine and Cyclops over Cyclops decision to involve Hope and other young mutants in an upcoming battle with a super Sentinel. Wolverine believed the younger students should be trained and protected, whereas Cyclops felt they were part of an army. It ended with a fracture in the two teams. Those who sided with Cyclops remained on Utopia. Those who sided with Wolverine went with him to the site of the old Xavier School (destroyed during Messiah Complex). And that brings us to
