6. Wolverine And The X-Men, vol. 1
Marvel ComicsIf youve read the X-Men books lately, youve probably wondered why the name of the Xavier School has now become the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning. The answer to that question can be found in the first volume of Wolverine and the X-Men. After leaving Utopia, Wolverine built a new school on the grounds where the old one was destroyed and he became the new headmaster, with Kitty Prydge being the headmistress. In memory of Jean, Wolverine chose to call it the Jean Grey School and he brought in not only existing young mutants from Utopia but also accepted previously unknown mutants into the school. The grounds have also been plagued by Bamfs, mysterious miniature versions of Nightcrawler with a taste for whiskey and mischief. So if youve been wondering why Nightcrawler is accompanied by tiny Nightcrawlers in his latest series, this is where they first appeared. Wolverine and the X-Men also established a new role for Logan, who went from being the rogue mutant to now becoming the public face of mutantkind. And a lot of that can be traced to his work at the Jean Grey School. Its also good to get to know some of the young mutants who have been appearing in this series, given the roles theyre playing in the titles at the moment.
