10 Figures Who Completely Reshaped Comic Book History
2. Stan Lee
It may come to a surprise that notable cameo actor and reality show host Stan Lee is considered an important figure in comics, but he apparently did a lot for the industry, like creating some of the most memorable characters and stories in all of fiction.
Lee (whose alter ego was originally Stanley Lieber) created Spiderman, The Fantastic 4, The Hulk, Iron Man, Daredevil, the X-Men and many, MANY more. Lee didn't do this alone however, teaming with Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko to co-create his most famous characters, Lee often tends to receive sole credit, though, partly due to his frankly Edisonian salesmanship and likeable charm.
Stan Lee has stood as the cornerstone of Marvel Comics since the early sixties and helped turn the company into multimedia dynamo it is now. Of course Disney buying Marvel in 2009 probably helped, but a great deal of credit goes to this glorified film extra.
