10 Goofiest Moments In The Early Days Of Spider-Man
6. Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends
It could always be worse, though. At least in that case, there's an in-universe explanation for why Peter Parker would ever show his masked face behind the wheel of a Spider-Mobile (ie he's forever broke). Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends didn't even attempt to explain why Spidey, Iceman and Firestar would be hanging out together. The show ran for three seasons in the early eighties, with an animation budget that hadn't risen much since the days of the sixties Spider-Man show and it's endlessly recycled sequences of web-swinging. Stan Lee narrated each episode, but failed to come up with a good reason why these three teamed up. Going by the name the Spider-Friends, the group apparently met at college and then go live with Aunt May, who's apparently fine with supporting two more deadbeat adopted kids. It was cheap and cheesy and terribly written, and somehow ended up being adapted into the Ultimate Spider-Man comic years later.
