10 Greatest "Dead And I Know It" Comic Book Moments
4. Batman - Final Crisis
Channelling his inner Clint Eastwood, Final Crisis saw Batman call Darkseid's bluff in a brilliant "Try me" moment that resulted in the Dark Knight's death.
That death wasn't in vain, of course, for the Caped Crusader performed the ultimate sacrifice - standing toe-to-toe with Darkseid in a battle that, in order for him and his fellow heroes to win, Bats would have to perish.
In this monumental tale, Darkseid is laser-focussed on dominating Earth and shaping the planet in his twisted vision. With the table set by the shocking death of Martian Manhunter, it eventually comes down to Batman to put the plan in motion to stop the Lord of Apokolips' latest rampage of terror.
To do that, the World's Greatest Detective arms himself with a radion bullet and prepares to break his own personal code by firing a gun. Clearly, Darkseid isn't just going to go down easy, and the Dark God fires his lethal Omega Beams in the direction of the Dark Knight as Bruce gets off his shot.
