10 Greatest "Dead And I Know It" Comic Book Moments
5. The Odinson And Hyperion - Avengers: Time Runs Out
If ever there was a prime example of a warrior's death, it was the dual demise of the Odinson and Hyperion in Jonathan Hickman's Avengers: Time Runs Out.
Leading into Secret Wars, this, frankly, all over the place tale centres on the Beyonders putting in place an experiment to destroy existence across all universes and realities. Doing this out of curiosity to simply see what would happen, the Beyonders planted a Molecule Man in each different realm - with these poor beings used to detonate each reality.
As this story starts to gather traction, the Odinson and Hyperion find themselves as two final survivors of Sunspot's Avengers in a battle against a slew of Beyonders. Utterly relishing this moment, the pair exchange a few light-hearted back-and-forths, before proclaiming how they'll be racing each other to Valhalla.
And with that, our heroes' journeys came to an end, with Hickman nicely summing their fate up with the following:
"Against the bleak nothing of dead space, two gods fell to many. The sun shone one last time. There was lightning, and thunder... and then silence."
