10 Greatest Avengers Of All Time

8. Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch may be a character torn between two worlds - much like her brother Quicksilver - but make no mistake, she's an Avenger through and through.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in just the X-Men's fourth issue as the daughter of Magneto, Scarlet Witch joined the Avengers alongside her brother in Avengers #16. The two settled in immediately, sparking a decades-long partnership with Earth's Mightiest Heroes that also kicked off the long-running tradition for X-Men to serve on the Avengers too.

In terms of power, Wanda Maximoff is among the most powerful characters on the team. As a mutant, she could manipulate her enemies using hex-like magic, which was later redefined as chaos magic by writer Kurt Busiek, and what importance she had on the battlefield she reflected off it too.

Wanda's time on the Avengers is always linked with that of Vision's, with the two having fallen in love with each other soon after the android's introduction. Even so, she's just as brilliant on her own as she is with her partner, and a figure not to be trifled with.
