10 Greatest Avengers Of All Time

3. Hulk (Bruce Banner)

Immortal Hulk HC
Marvel Comics

When you get Hulk, you also get Bruce Banner. There's no separating one from the other, and that's a good thing. Both characters have made massive contributions to the Avengers over the years, whether as a hero, a threat, or even a reluctant ally - so versatile is their role.

Like Thor, the journey Hulk's undertaken since his introduction can perhaps best be seen through the Avengers comics. All versions of the character have been involved with the team in one way or another, whether that be his original, wordy self, his rage-driven, more unpredictable counterpart, or the intelligent amalgamation of Bruce and Hulk into one being, referred to as the 'professor'.

That's what makes him such a unique entity when it comes to not just the Marvel Universe, but to the Avengers specifically. Through the prism of those books, readers are given the best perspective of how Bruce Banner's fellow heroes have perceived him over the years, ally or otherwise.

He might be the most intermittent Avenger going, but there's no underestimating the Hulk's impact.
