10 Greatest Moments From Jason Aaron's Thor

7. Old King Thor Vs Galactus

Thor Jason Aaron
Marvel Comics

Throughout his run, Jason Aaron continued building upon the story of King Thor that he started in the God Butcher and God Bomb storylines, and the continuation began with this battle.

After Gorr's defeat, Thor and his granddaughter's returned to Midgard, now a desolate and dead world. But Thor refused to abandon Midgard and was determined to see life return.

Enter Galactus. With few worlds left in a dying universe, Galactus decides that now is the time to devour the only world to have ever escaped him, but Thor is prepared to stop Galactus even if it kills him. Even with the power of the Thor Force behind him, King Thor isn't able to stop Galactus and it isn't until his three granddaughters return that Galactus is substantially injured.

Eventually, realizing that they do not have enough strength to defeat the Devourer, Thor flies into deep space and retrieves All-Black the Necrosword, the same weapon Gorr wielded.

With the dark weapon Thor all but killed Galactus, and after their battle concluded, the blood Thor spilled defending Midgard caused life to begin blossoming again. All while on Mars, Galactus and All-Black awaken leading to the birth of the Butcher of Worlds.
