10 Greatest Moments From Jason Aaron's Thor
5. Hail To The King
What came as a bit of surprise at the end of War of the Realms #6, which shouldn't have been given the existence of King Thor in the future, comes as the second greatest moment in an incredible event. Having just defeated Malekith and ended the War of the Realms, Odin passes the title of All-Father to Thor. This moment was great for a few key reasons.
The first of which is that this moment represents not only the conclusion of a thread Jason Aaron had been following, but one that the character has been following since Jack Kirby first created the him.
Thor has always been fighting to be worthy of Mjolnir and worthy of becoming King, and now we finally get to see that struggle's satisfying conclusion.
Yes, Thor has held the mantle of All-Father before, but we haven't seen Odin willingly abdicate the throne. And extenuating circumstances have prevented Thor from acting any different than when he wasn't king.
The fact that the newest writer has taken up that task of writing Thor as a king is a sign that this decision won't be reversed anytime soon, and thank Thor for that.
