10 Greatest Moments From Jason Aaron's Thor

4. Thor Vs The Phoenix Force

Once again Jason Aaron showcased how to blend together two foreign concepts with one another seamlessly. Following a contest to see who was the better god between the Shi'Ar gods and Jane in which Jane won, the Shi'Ar gods summon the Phoenix Force to destroy everything.

With the Phoenix Force unleashed, Jane and the Imperial Guard traveled to Earth to ask for Quentin Quire's help since in the future he is supposed to become the Phoenix's host.

Upon their return, the Phoenix allows Jane into the White Hot Room where the two begin to discuss how to end the battle. Knowing that Mjolnir is killing Jane, the Phoenix offers to leave in exchange for Mjolnir.

Realizing that the Phoenix is only asking for the hammer because it fears the God Tempest within it, Jane rejects the Phoenix's offer. Insulted, the Phoenix attacks Jane and vows to incinerate her, but realising that their conversation is all in her head, Jane attacks the Phoenix psychically with Mjolnir and then unleashes a massive thunderstorm.

It's a bit of plot hole how Jane is able use Mjolnir inside the White Hot Room, but it's also one of those things that's too epic to criticise.
