10 Greatest Moments From Jason Aaron's Thor

3. Mjolnir Reforged

Remember how we said Thor becoming the All-Father was the second greatest moment to come out of the War of the Realms? Here's THE greatest moment.

At the end of Original Sin, Thor was unworthy of wielding Mjolnir. As the War of the Realms grew, he watched someone else use his name and carry his hammer.

Then when the opportunity to claim another hammer from a different universe presents itself, Thor begrudgingly passes on the chance as he comes to terms with what Nick Fury whispered to him that made him unworthy. Afterwards, Thor was unable to prevent the Mangog from destroying his home and watched as Jane sacrificed Mjolnir by throwing it into the sun.

When Malekith brought the war to Midgard, Thor had been through quite a lot and despite the best efforts of Earth's heroes and his fellow Asgardians, Malekith still seemed poised to win.

After sacrificing his eye in exchange for the knowledge of how to end the war, Thor along with Young Thor, King Thor, and Jane attacked Malekith at Stonehenge where Thor revealed he had been using the God Tempest and the sun to reforge Mjolnir.

With his hammer restored, and able to lift it again after learning that the struggle to always be worthy of those that worship him was the key to being worthy, Thor defeated Malekith and ended a war that had been building for the past seven years.
