Although their 'first meeting' is disputed due to retcons and retellings, their partnership has grown to a level of great mutual respect, trust, and genuine friendship.
Famously the pair have disparate methods and personalities, but similar enough ideals that when done right, seeing them fight crime together can be a thrill of character interaction and interplay. They still clash when Batman's penchant for over-preparedness borders on paranoia, but for the most part they remain close.
