10 Greatest Superhero Replacements That Outshone The Originals

7. Green Hulk - The Incredible Hulk

The Human Torch Johnny Storm
Marvel Comics

The Incredible Hulk was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in the 1960s. It was the story of Doctor Bruce Banner who underwent a metamorphosis. After saving young Rick Jones, the good doctor was blasted with gamma radiation. As the sun fell and the night began, Banner turned into the Hulk.

But things would change for the Hulk. For one, his skin was changed. Because of the printing problems with grey, he was then given a green complexion. The other was the cause of his transformation. The Avengers #3 would make it so that Banner transformed due to surges of fear and anger. Despite these changes, The Incredible Hulk would only last for six issues before the series' cancellation. But the character would remain a part of the Marvel Universe, guest starring in other titles such as The Avengers and The Fantastic Four.

Banner turning into the Hulk because of rage and stress would then become the norm for future issues with the character. At the same time, while his gray skin would return as well as other new personas, Banner's green color would become the iconic image of the character.
