10 Greatest Superhero Replacements That Outshone The Originals
6. Tim Drake - Robin
Robin had always been a Batman staple. The original was Dick Grayson. A circus acrobat who lost his parents, he was taken in by Batman to be the first superhero sidekick. Years later, Grayson quit as Robin, feeling he outgrew the role. The next Robin was Jason Todd. He was a street kid caught stealing one of the Batmobile's wheels. His angry and brashness led to his death at the hands of the Joker.
But for Tim Drake, things were different. After noticing a change in Batman's behavior, he figured out that the Dark Knight was Bruce Wayne. He then sought the billionaire, claiming that Batman must have a Robin to keep him in line. While it took a lot of convincing, Batman agreed and Drake became the third Robin.
His time as Robin would prove to be a popular one which led to a solo series in the 1990s. His new costume was also well received, with a more practical feel and the first Robin to wear pants. While his predecessors were fine as Robin, they grew as characters outside the title. Dick became Nightwing and Jason became Red Hood. But with Tim, he was great already as Robin.
