10 Heartbreaking Moments Comic Book Characters Realised THEY Were The Villain

2. Loki - Agent Of Asgard

Death of Captain America
Marvel Comics

Following one of his many mischievous plans taking a rather nasty turn, Loki once decided to assist the Avengers in fixing one of his messes.

The old Loki seemingly sacrificed his life to stop a force known as the Void. In true god of mischief fashion, he had his name taken out of the book of Hel and was, therefore, reincarnated into a new youthful body. Known as Kid Loki, this child was far kinder and more moral than his prior counterpart, and was loved by many Asgardians.

That was until a copy of the old Loki took control of the child's body, and the two merged together, creating a third iteration of the character. This Loki, that will be referred to as the Agent of Asgard Loki, sought to rid the world of his previous wrongdoings by serving Asgard. For every good deed he did, a bad one was stricken from his record.

But Asgard had other plans, deep in the depths of the Asgardian prisons was an older version of the AoA Loki that had arrived from the future and was subtly influencing events.

Freyja, Queen of Asgard, understood that the world needed a villain - and had no intention of fulfilling her promise to wipe Loki's record clean.

Eventually, AoA Loki uncovered the truth and that this future, twisted version was inevitable, and that he would eventually destroy Earth in the future.
