10 Heartwarming DC Comics Moments That Made Fans Cry

9. Superman's Cat

Of all the comic moments you'd expect to bring you to actual tears, the death of Fuzzball - Superman's pet cat - would definitely not top a theoretical list, partially because the idea of anyone crying over something called 'Fuzzball' is just naturally pretty weird.

But the adopted kitten is pretty difficult not to endear to through Superman's heartfelt description of her - admitting that the cat was the first thing the hero had ever really cared about, because they were both 'the last of their family'. Her unexpected death is made all the more heartwarming by the fact that Superman honours their time together by burying her on the moon, honouring the small creature with a special burial.

If you told someone they'd tear up at Superman burying a cat on the moon, you'd seriously worry about them. But if they gave you Superman: Earth One, those concerns would immediately fade - replaced by a very real attempt to not sob over Fuzzball.
