There's something about Connor Kent that is naturally made for heartwarming moments. Due to him being basically a young Superman, that combination of teen angst, incredible powers, and an unbreakable sense of care for the human race, Connor serves as a reminder that superheroes are born, not made, even with superpowers.

This is proved with Superboy's sacrifice in Infinite Crisis. Connor dies fighting an alternate universe's Superboy, with this fight joining the universes together in perhaps the most important moment in the series. Because of this, Connor dies with a smile on his face, and one of the saddest final lines in response to being told he's saved the world - 'isn't it cool?'
