4. Kamala's Incursion - Ms. Marvel

The lead-in for Secret Wars is all about one thing, from the main incursion issues to the various tie-in books: they are about coming to terms with the end of the world, or more intimately, death. Every hero who experiences this comes to terms in their own way, at their own speed, that there is no escaping, fixing, or stopping what's about to happen.

And no tie-in fully encapsulated that better than Kamala Khan's Ms Marvel. What began as a simple day eating a hot dog became a young girl forced to hold her chaos ridden city as much together as she possibly can. We see her confront the chaos of a city gone mad, punch out her insane ex-boyfriend, finally teaming up with Captain Marvel, and then fully coming to terms with the fact that there is no fixing this. After today, for all the world knew, this was the end.

So we end the original Ms. Marvel run with her spending time with her loved ones, some longer than others. Things are said that should have been said ages ago, culminating in her and her childhood friend Bruno finally confessing their love for each other as the light overtakes them.

it's a sorrowful, touching ending to a legendary initial run, but as if to foreshadow Kamala's role in the Marvel universe to come, it carries a bit of hope of what comes after the light.
