10 Horror Comics That Prove Not Even Reading Is Safe
8. Sons Of The Devil
There is a particular talent in horror that comes from creating a storyline where it’s unclear if there are genuine demonic forces at work, or just a symbol of some other instability within the characters themselves. Sons of The Devil carries this off so well that – should you dare to read it – you may find yourself reading back through it several times, hoping against logic that you’ll find that secret hint as to what’s really going on.
It’s also a pleasant departure from the norm in terms of content. Generally, horror comics tend to be about dark magics and horrific, demonic beings – so to have a Manson-esque figure instead as the antagonist is both frightening and a breath of fresh air. There’s some particular care taken to keep a sense of realism, too, which is pleasantly unnerving in avoiding the almost cartoonish villains that can creep into horror comics.
Do you enjoy questioning the crumbling sanity of a well-meaning protagonist? Then Sons of The Devil is tailor-made for you.
