10 Horror Comics You Must Read If You Love The Walking Dead

3. DCeased

DC Comics

DCeased (DC... deceased... geddit?) is DC's own spin on the Marvel Zombies phenomenon.

Like Marvel Zombies, it imagines an alternate universe in which the heroes are overwhelmed by a world-ending zombie plague. In this case, originating from Apokolips, it is spread electronically, via digital frequencies.

Unlike Marvel Zombies, DCeased starts from the very beginning, showing readers every gory step in the world's collapse. Batman, surprisingly, is one of the first to fall, while Superman and the Justice League attempt to fend off the forthcoming apocalypse.

Typically for DC, the story is told with a straighter face, but does end on a more optimistic note (while leaving room for the spin-offs and sequels which followed).

This is big budget, wide scale blockbuster zombies, bursting with explosive set pieces and gnarly gore.

While Rick Grimes thought that he had it tough, he should be thankful he never had to contend with a zombified Kryptonian.
