10 Iconic Comic Book Characters (Without Legendary Comics)

8. Starfire

Blade Marvel
DC Comics

Sometimes you run across that character who's incredibly famous despite never even getting much of a chance at a solo run in the first place. Sure, there was a Starfire solo run that lasted for about 12 issues. But let's face it, that is not why you all know who Starfire is.

The Teen Titans cartoon made by Glen Murakami is pretty much the only reason anyone cares who Cyborg, Raven, Beast Boy, and yes, Starfire even are outside of hardcore comics fandom. It's the same reason that Wally West got to stay the Flash for just a few more years before they reset that to zero.

It's too bad that Starfire's solo run didn't get that much traction, because the character is so much fun and so beloved by the comic fandom that giving her her own solo run and her own stories would make everyone happy.

It's not even a lack of material to work with that's keeping that from happening. Starfire is the lost princess of an alien planet who now has to adjust to living on Earth. That's a great hook for fun stories as well as genuine pathos.
