10 Idiotic Mistakes That Almost Ruined Spider-Man

5. Making Him Team Iron Man - Civil War #2

Scarlet Spider Replace Peter Parker
Marvel Comics

Making silly decisions is part of Peter Parker's charm - he's not perfect, he makes mistakes, it helps make him so relatable.

What isn't a part of Parker's charm is his complete lack of regard for the safety of those closest to him though. The entire reason for the character's secret identity is so his friends & family don't worry and so those same people remain as safe as possible. After all, Spider-Man has a pretty massive rogues gallery, and most of them don't have a code that prevents them from targeting innocents.

As such, it makes zero sense why the character would side with Tony Stark in Civil War - a guy who is basically advocating for a lack of responsibility by asking Peter to let every one of his foes know exactly who he is.

I mean, Aunt May dies because as a direct result of this, for crying out loud. The issues of the previous two entries would not have existed were it not for this decision - that's how big of a misstep this was.
