Marvel Comics

Another fairly predictable inclusion, the reasons for which will become immediately obvious.

Gwen Stacy is a figure in Spider-Man history that represents the character's early innocent years, her death being an obviously sombre moment that truly defined the great responsibility that comes with Peter's great powers. A death of such significance is one that should not be tampered with, and yet - once again - Marvel begged to differ.

It tainted a key part of the Spider-Man mythos, angered fans, and probably made a large proportion of readers feel physically sick. Idiotic doesn't quite cover it.
