5. Chew, Volume 1: Taster's Choice

The Walking Dead Image Comics

John Layman and Rob Guillory's Chew is one of the strangest, but still entertaining works of fiction published today. The series revolves around Tony Chu, a police detective working in a world where the consumption of birds is illegal. His goal: find anyone poaching and selling chickens or other bird meat and throw the book at them!

There is of course, a catch, Chu is a Cibopath and he uses this skill to hunt down criminals. If you're scratching your head wondering what in the world a Cibopath is, the book lays it out for you in the first volume of the series' first five issues under the name, Taster's Choice.

A Cibopath is a person who can take a single bite of something and have an immediate psychic sensation of what happened to the object. This means he can bite into a cadaver and know who killed the person.

It's a disgusting, but incredibly useful skill and Chu uses it to the fullest in this hilarious comic book series consisting of 60 issues collected into 12 volumes.
