Marvel’s most Darwinian villain will tell you he’s immortal, invulnerable and inevitable (sound familiar?). In a bit of good news for just about everyone however, Mr Survival of the Fittest is indeed very killable and has fallen victim to his hated X-Men foes on numerous occasions. A master manipulator, Apocalypse has engineered wars, global takeovers and all manner of super villain hi jinx to further his nefarious ambitions.

Most famous of En Sabah Nur’s many mortifications comes in the Age of Apocalypse series where a heroic Magneto uses every ounce of his own mutant strength to tear the ancient menace in half (as Wolverine has learned the hard way many times, don’t bring metal to a Magneto fight).

During the Apocalypse Wars saga, En Sabah Nur takes a fatal tumble at the hands of everyone’s favourite blue tailed circus performer, Nightcrawler.

On top of that, Apocalypse has suffered some serious beatdowns in other adaptations including his evisceration at the hands of Jean Grey in the polarising X-Men: Apocalypse film in 2016 and his brutal defeat courtesy of Professor X and pretty much every Marvel psychic ever during the beloved 90s cartoon show’s run.

For a figure so often presented as the X-Men’s deadliest foe, Apocalypse sure does fall before them a lot.
