10 Important Life Lessons Comic Books Teach Us (In Elaborate Ways)

7. Do What Needs To Be Done

Granted, the examples about to be given really do take this notion to the extreme, but the point still stands. Superman goes about his business with a set of strict morals that, above all else, include not killing people. However, in times of real crisis, he has indeed done what has needed to be done and rid the world of villains, before they can do any more damage, by ending their lives. In the Injustice: Gods Among Us comics, Superman killed the Joker by ramming his fist through his chest after the villain had nuked Metropolis and killed both Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane. It's what needed to be done to finally rid the world of the twisted and homicidal threat of a mad man who had gone too far. In the Death of Superman arc, Doomsday came to Earth - threatening the lives of every single inhabitant of the planet - and Superman went all out to ensure that the threat was ended, killing himself and Doomsday in the process. Essentially, the point is this; If something needs doing, do it (though not in circumstances where the only answer is killing people - that's an over-the-top example).
