10 Inappropriate Stories You Won't Believe Marvel Comics Published

1. Marcus And Carol Danvers

For the 200th issue of The Avengers, David Michelenie intended to write a story where the Kree had Carol Danvers impregnated so she could give birth to a Kree/human hybrid. Because the Kree's evolution had stalled, this child was intended to jumpstart a new offshoot of the alien race.

Unfortunately, the editor-in-chief, Jim Shooter, dismissed Michelenie's idea, saying it was too similar to the plot of another comic.

So instead, Michelenie tweaked the concept and indirectly created the worst Avengers story ever. Avengers #200 starts with Carol learning that an entity called Marcus impregnated her... with himself. Almost immediately after being born, Marcus grows to adulthood and brainwashes Carol to marry him. Even though it is clear Marcus is manipulating Carol, Earth's Mightiest Heroes are totally okay with her having a relationship with her rapist, who is also technically her son.

Even after 40 years, Avengers #200 is still known as one of the most dreadfully offensive and sexist comics of all time. It received scathing reviews, not just because of the abuse Carol suffered herself, but also for the nonchalant reaction from her comrades.
