10 Incredible Batman Comics (That Don't Star Bruce Wayne)

4. Batman Beyond: Hush Beyond

Gotham Central 1
DC Comics

Despite only airing for two seasons, Batman Beyond is still remembered fondly as one of the best incarnations of the Dark Knight. An elderly Bruce Wayne trains a new Batman in a techno-punk world - what's not to love?

The show's popularity was still so great that, in 2010, writer Adam Beechen was brought on to write a six-part miniseries to make Batman Beyond part of the main DC continuity. There was only one story that could truly bring Terry McGinnis out of the DCAU and into his own, and it ended up drawing upon an earlier Bat story from Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee.

Hush Beyond follows Terry McGinnis, who'd been Batman for a few years in universe, as a new villain begins to a murder spree using gimmicks from old Batman villains, like Two-Face and Penguin. It also reintroduces characters such as Dick Grayson and Tim Drake, who is still under observation after being the Joker for a bit. Following Terry through the investigation, we also see Bruce Wayne's insecurities of not being a frontline combatant and his need to have a greater faith in Terry. And of course the twist at the end just makes this a must-read.

There was a series before this that was a direct tie-in with the DCAU show, but Beechen et al.'s was by far the best.
