10 Incredibly Bloody Comic Book Deaths

1. Allfather D'€™Aronique

Vertigo

It'€™s quite a challenge selecting only one bloody and gruesome death from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon€'™s Vertigo series Preacher. Considered by many to be one of the most violent comic books of all time, this series has given readers an assortment of over-the-top kill sequences involving mass quantities of people having their legs and arms blown off, one man who had his face cut off, and another who chopped off a certain €œmember€ of his body and lodged it up his colon before blowing his own head off.

Still, for the sake of trying to represent as many different comic book series as possible in this list, one Preacher death weighs a bit more heavily than all of the others. The death of Allfather D€™'Aronique in Preacher #24 gets the nod in large part because of his large parts. As the leader of the Grail, Allfather€™'s global power is only surpassed by his grotesque waist-size. In short, Allfather carries the kind of girth around that makes Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin of crime, look like he'€™s on a diet.

Allfather is killed when his getaway helicopter is hijacked in mid-air by Herr Starr and he is pushed out to the ground below, hitting the pavement with such impact, he is partially liquidated into a half-puddle of blood, guts and bones (and his compatriot, the Messiah is crushed underneath him). It€™'s unquestionably a gruesome death and is arguably the bloodiest death in all of comics because a man as large as Allfather certainly left behind a extraordinary amount of blood and entrails.
