8. Dark Avengers
After the ending of the Secret Invasion event, in which Norman Osborn gets the kill shot on the Skrull queen - thereby ending the invasion - the former Green Goblin is given control of the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D replacement H.A.M.M.E.R. The former Goblin ends up leading the charade of the Avengers team, with the roster being made up of villains in hero costumes.
Osborn (now the Iron Patriot) recruits a motley cast of characters starting with actual heroes Ares and Sentry, then the slightly more villainous personalities of Logan's son Daken (who takes up his father's alias), Moonstone (now Ms Marvel), Bullseye (taking up the mantle of Hawkeye), Venom (becoming the new Spider-Man) and the Kree warrior Noh-Varr (now Captain Marvel).
Though short lived, this Earth-616 incarnation of the team has a chaotically brilliant run, flipping the entire idea of the Avengers on its head in a thoroughly enjoyable way.
