The Joker as a Van Helsing-like figure is one of those concepts that initially sounds complex but makes perfect sense when you get into it. In a series where Batman is a vampire, it's entirely logical that the Joker would take on a vampire hunter kind of role - even if it's a little unusual because the vampire hunter is usually the hero in vampire novels.

Admittedly, this makes for a really interesting alternate universe for the pair, as despite the unusual setup the comic characterises both Batman and Joker well, bringing all the jokes and insanity that we know and love the character for.

Only, instead of henchmen, the Joker controls an army of vampires, so it actually might be a little better than the regular universe in that regard.

At points he might be overly cartoonish for the tone of the comic he's in, but if any character can get away with that, it has to be the Joker.
