10 Insane Alternate Versions Of The Joker You Won’t Believe Exist
2. Pirate Joker - Detective Comics Annual #7
When you're provided with a comic that makes Batman look like some kind of roguish Indigo Montoya style hero, you know you're in for a good time. These suspicions are only further confirmed when the Joker rocks up, resembling every nightmare a child has had about pirates ever, and looking twice as intimidating as that suggests.
In true form, the craziness doesn't stop there, and we get to read on with devilish delight as the Clown Prince of Crime cuts a path of bloody violence through the seven seas, before inevitably ending up in a fight with the Dark Knight.
It's a far more matched battle than usual, however, as in this universe Batman doesn't have the upper hand in fighting training, leaving the pair to duke it out on even terms.
While it's an undeniably weird comic, it's also one that's massively under-appreciated, as the issue manages to balance the tone of a pirate tale and the tone of a Batman story to an almost uncanny degree.
