10 Insane Alternative Versions Of Batman You Won't Believe

3. Owlman

Flashpoint Batman Thomas Wayne
DC Comics

We’ve all pondered the concept of an evil Batman. Equal to Bruce in intelligence and skill but with a different ideology. Owlman is that equivalent.

While he may sound like a parody of Batman he is actually his parallel on an alternate universe's Crime Syndicate of Amerika, along with other criminal versions of the Justice League. Owlman has had various different incarnations and origins but there has always been one constant: that he is the antithesis of Batman.

In the most popular of these universes, the Waynes had two children, Thomas Jr and Bruce. After the mugging and murder in that grimy Gotham alley, Thomas Sr, Martha and the young Bruce were left dead. Thomas Wayne Jr was left alone as the sole heir. Much like Bruce, Thomas used his wealth to train himself and build technology to aid his conquest in fighting crime. However, where Batman’s goal was to simply fight crime, Owlman understood that it was impossible to stop it, and so his ultimate goal was to conquer the villains and control it.

In the animated film ‘Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths’ - where the Justice League clash with the Crime Syndicate of Amerika - Owlman is shown to be something of a nihilist. Once realising there are infinite universes he concluded that actions are meaningless and that nothing actually matters. Owlman decided to do the one action that would matter, blowing up Earth-Prime, the universe that all variations of earth spawn from, destroying all universes. This would technically include every alternate version of Batman on this list.
