10 Insane Supervillain Schemes You Won't Believe

6. A Terminal Illness Compels A World-Ending Scheme

Spider-Man 2099
Marvel Comics

The 2015 Spider-Man 2099 is an amazing comic series, especially in how it fleshes out the character of Miguel O'Hara, the titular Spider-Man from 2099, and his occasionally complex but always fascinating canon. Despite this, it is likely readers are split as to exactly how good the series was for one precise reason, and that reason is that the evil scheme the plot is hinged on is undeniably insane.

Tyler Stone - an alternate reality version of Miguel's father, just to start things off the weirdness - is revealed at the climax of the series to have released a virus that would cripple New York and then the rest of civilised society... because he has cancer. Now, many villains have motivations that are difficult to understand, but wanting to take the entire world with you because you have a terminal illness just doesn't make sense, especially with how convoluted and complicated this plan gets over the series.

Oh, also during this time his company makes an evil Pokemon GO clone, presumably just to enhance the strangeness of the comic that little bit further.

I like my comics like I like my coffee - in huge, unquestionably unhealthy doses.
