10 Insane Times Superheroes Developed New Powers

4. Ms. Marvel

Daredevil God Without Fear
Marvel Comics

Speaking of Carol Danvers/Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel (she has more names than most characters in comics, okay?), her powers have gone through some changes over the years too. She was first empowered when a Kree device called the Psyche-Magnetron exploded in her vicinity, which caused an alteration to her DNA and made it part-Kree.

That change gave her a slew of superpowers she used in her new identity as Ms. Marvel. She remained as such until she lost her powers and memories thanks to the aforementioned encounter with Rogue. She later fought against the Brood with the X-Men, but when the Brood experiment on her, she changes once more.

Carol gains the ability to draw on the cosmic state known as a "white hole", offering her the power of an entire star. With this new power, which is ridiculously greater than any other power she previously held, she renames herself once more as Binary.

Binary's powers were immense, seeing as they were comparable in scale to an entire star. Eventually, she lost her connection to the white hole and reverted to her Ms. Marvel level of powers, with only a small amount of her Binary abilities in terms of energy manipulation and absorption remaining.
