10 Insane Times Superheroes Developed New Powers

2. Wonder Woman

Daredevil God Without Fear
DC Comics

Throughout her long history, Wonder Woman has gone through several changes in terms of powers. She used to have to fly about in an invisible jet, but now she can fly herself, and there are several other tweaks to her powers that have made her into one of the most powerful people in the DC Universe.

She has often battled Ares, the God of War, as one of her principal antagonists, but those stories always ended in defeat and not death. You can't go around killing all of your characters and continue publishing great books for the better part of a century, so battles tend to end with both people still living.

That's not how it went down in Wonder Woman #23.2: First born. In a fight with Ares, Wonder Woman straight-up skewered the God of War, killing him. What happens when you kill a God? Well, you become that god, which is why Princess Diana is now the new Goddess of War.

After years of battle, she finally became her own enemy as the responsibilities inherent in the position are now hers alongside all the powers of being a deity. She also has a ghost army to command and is pretty much responsible for all conflict, everywhere.
