10 Judge Dredd Comics You Must Read Before You Die

Anytime the Dark Judges are featured within the pages of 2000 AD, you know you're going to be in for a great time. Messers Fear, Fire, Mortis, and Death always bring a huge body count with them as they pass judgment over all life on Earth, and the judgment is "Guilty!!!"

Not so much any single specific story but the whole collection that falls under their banner is worth time looking into, from the first ever appearance of Dredd's nemesis in the first Judge Death, through Dreams of Deadworld, onto Dominion and all points in between. The four Judges are responsible for some of the most entertaining and, at times, terrifying arcs in the history of the comics.

There's even another crossover with Batman, as the Joker goes to Mega-City and unleashes them from captivity, becoming the Dark Joker in the process.

Whenever the Judges arise again, as they do over and over, it will take the combined efforts of everyone to make sure their current reign of terror is ended. This usually means that Dredd will have to turn to his longtime sidekick Judge Anderson to lay a psychic whammy on them, and any excuse to have Anderson in the comic is always a good thing.
