10 Key Members Of The Justice Society Of America

8. Hourman

Justice Society Of America
DC Comics

One of the founding members of the original Justice Society, Hourman is one of many of the JSA's legacy heroes.

The first Hourman was Rex Tyler, a successful chemist who debuted in Adventure Comics #48 in 1940. Creating the wonder drug 'Miraclo', Tyler used it to enhance his strength, speed, and provide him with invulnerability for up to an hour.

After founding the Justice Society with the other colourful Mystery Men of the era, Tyler slowly became addicted to the drug which deteriorated his body and mind.

The next Hourman was Tyler's son, Rick, who possessed the ability of precognition. He could see one hour into the future and view crimes waiting to happen. Developing a non-addictive variant of Miraclo, Rick assumed the role of Hourman and was a key member of the new JSA in the early 2000s.

Part of the JSA from the start, Hourman is one of the more famous members and has appeared throughout various TV shows. In Legends of Tomorrow, the Rex Tyler version acted as the leader of the JSA but his time was cut short by the Reverse-Flash.

In CW's Stargirl, both Rex and his son appear, with Rick assuming the role from his deceased father and going after the villainous Injustice Society.
