10 Lame Comic Book Villains (Who Are Actually Incredibly Powerful)

4. Black Tom Cassidy

Sportsmaster DC Comics
Marvel Comics

Black Tom Cassidy is an old X-Men villain, the cousin of prominent mutant figure Banshee, and is often partnered with his buddy the Juggernaut. Because he usually stands next to one of the most physically powerful beings in the Marvel universe, most people write him off as a lame character. But this is not the case, he is also pretty lame in his own right.

Despite seeing some success early in his criminal career, Cassidy's track record as a villain is abysmal to say the least. At one point, he was infect with a plant-based virus that turned his body into compost. Another time, he led the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants in an attack on the X-Mansion with the intent of wiping them out. The only casualty was a cook and Black Tom was sucked into a black hole.

But even though he has never been shown a modicum of respect in the comics, or in Deadpool 2, he actually has a pretty badass power: being able to generate and redirect energy through wood and plant life. In his early days, he used this to shoot heat beams out of his Shillelagh. Because Irish. But the applications of this ability are virtually limitless considering that wood makes up a not insignificant portion of the planet.

Hypothetically, Black Tom could channel enough energy to destroy the Earth. Or at least hold the Amazon Rainforest hostage.
