1. Mephisto
Mephisto rules over a domain of fire housed within a pocket
dimension. His influence spreads far and wide, and he often tricks humans into
succumbing to his will by convincing them he is actually Satan in the flesh. In short, Mephisto’s importance in Marvel lore has been enormous.
He helped create the first Ghost Rider, tried to enslave Silver Surfer numerous times, had a big role in the Infinity Gauntlet arc and has generally tried to manipulate and use just about every major Marvel character at some point or the other.
In many ways his cosmic level stature is what makes it a bit difficult to integrate him into the MCU. A character of his magnitude needs a proper introduction and character work, but luckily Marvel Studios have an obvious choice for duelling with the devilish villain in Doctor Strange. The next solo movie starring the Master of the Mystic Arts is also set to feature Scarlet Witch, who has had major crossovers of her own with Mephisto in the comics.
If they are willing to take the time and effort in building up Mephisto, he could very well provide the right choice for the MCU’s next big baddy.
