Recently fans have been clamoring to see a live action version of Into the Spider-Verse. The animated movie was a massive success and more importantly, people actually began to dream of one day seeing Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield side by side. Just imagine the sight!

But while that prospect still remains firmly within the realms of speculation, one multiversal Spider-Man villain Marvel could turn to if the possibility ever came up is Morlun. Leader of a group known as the Inheritors, Morlun’s goal is to seek out all those who possess Spider Totem powers, so effectively the Spider-Men of the Spider-Verse.

Even if Spider-Verse was off the table, Morlun would also make an excellent adversary for Peter Parker in any other regular Spider-Man story - mostly because of the really deep backstory it would help introduce to the MCU. The Inheritors are connected to the ancient origin of the totemic powers that grant animal abilities to superhumans, of which Spider-Man is arguably the most famous example.

As a combatant Morlun is a formidable foe for any hero, with Peter once claiming being punched by the dimension traveling villain was the hardest he was ever hit. High praise indeed.
