10 Little Known Supervillains That Could Make Marvel Millions
4. The Puppet Master
Captain Marvel is expected by most to become the new figurehead of the MCU. But a superhero can’t very good, unless the villain she overcomes, is very, very bad.
Of all the bad guys Carol Danvers has vanquished throughout her illustrious history, perhaps none are as complex as the Puppet Master. Phillip Masters had a troubled childhood growing up in a mountainside in the country of Transia. His only real source of positivity as a child, was sculpting.
Subsequently, he comes to the United States, but his fortunes fail to improve. He loses both of his parents and experiences severe mistreatment and bullying at school. But, ever the survivor, he slogs through it all and is able to turn his hobby into a profession. What he did not predict however, was the road it was about to take him on.
For as it turned out, the clay he brought to the U.S. from his homeland, was infused with the magic of a demon who had been trapped in the mountain he lived near. As such, he could create dolls of people using this magical clay that would grant him control over their minds. An alternative explanation for this was that the clay was radioactive.
Sometime later, his path entwined with Captain Marvel. And this, is where he brought out the very worst in Carol. After Puppet Master takes control of a group of women, including one of her good friends, Carol has a complete meltdown.
At one point in the arc, Puppet Master is in danger of blowing himself up and Captain Marvel simply lets him, despite the fact she could very easily prevented his death. A really dark arc for sure, but one that could also potentially work onscreen?
