Cooking Papa is an ongoing manga series written and illustrated by Tochi Ueyama, which has been serialized in Weekly Morning since 1985. Since it first appeared, Tochi Ueyama has managed to pump out a whopping 1,488 chapters, which have been compiled into 153 tankōbon volumes.

The story of Cooking Papa follows a salaryman (Japanese white-collar worker) named Kazumi Araiwa, who is a master at cooking but doesn't want anyone at his workplace to know anything about his talent in the kitchen. Instead, he fools his fellow employees into believing that his wife, Nijiko Araiwa, is the chef when, in reality, she couldn't cook ramen.

One of the more interesting aspects of the series is that each chapter concludes with a real recipe for the dish that was featured, so any collector of the chapters can make whatever Kazumi put together in the story.

Cooking Papa has been adapted into an anime, which ran from April 1992 until May of 1995. All told, there were 151 episodes produced in the series. A live-action TV drama was also made in 2008. The series is well known in and out of Japan, thanks to having been translated into numerous languages.
