Minami no Teiō, or "Emperor of Minami," is an ongoing manga series written by Dai Tennōji and illustrated Rikiya Gō. The series first began in 1992 and continues to run via serialized chapters in Weekly Manga Goraku magazine for a total of 1,395 chapters and 157 volumes.

Minami no Teiō has been highly popular since it first debuted, and with 53 million copies sold, it's one of the best-selling manga of all time. The series follows the adventures of Ginjirou Manda, a loan shark who is affiliated with the Yakuza in Osaka, Japan.

He's one of the most feared loan sharks in Japan, thanks to his method of charging toichi, which amounts to 10% interest compounded every ten days, or 365% each year. People often try to pull one over on him to keep from paying, but in the end, the "Demon" always gets what's coming to him.

While there are plenty of manga volumes to go around, there are more film adaptations of Minami no Teiō than most series ever see. Since the comic first started being published, there have been two live-action television films (1996 & 2010) and two OVAs (1993 & 1994).
