Vulcan is, essentially, the natural counter to Danvers' powers, in that the hero is able to absorb massive amounts of energy to harness for his own use.

This energy is generally used to control heat, light and electricity, but Vulcan's ability by no means stop there. Between untrained psychic abilities, and being able to channel the abilities of others, Vulcan also has a whole roster of powers that he seemingly is capable of without really even trying.

Interestingly, Ed Brubaker - Vulcan's creator - also revealed that the hero has 'hidden potential' to control seven elements, meaning that the Vulcan we know hasn't even tapped into his entire power repertoire.

Vulcan's powers do have a limit, as he is overloaded after trying to absorb one of his brother's energy blasts. However, Vulcan has also faced off and won against Adam Warlock, meaning that Captain Marvel is comparatively likely not as huge threat.
