While it's initially funny to think that a little boy is more powerful than Captain Marvel, it becomes a whole lot less funny when you think that said little boy may be more powerful than most of the known Marvel universe.

Because Franklin Richards is canonically considered to have powers beyond that of an Omega-level mutant, which are supposed possess the most powerful kind of mutations possible. It's thought that Sue and Reed Richards' exposure to radiation changed his genetic makeup, making the child capable of warping reality itself.

Franklin manages to be possibly one of the most powerful characters of the marvel universe - or, at least, definitely the most powerful character to be unable to bluff his way into a PG-13 screening.

While Captain Marvel is by no means the franchise's weakest character, her ability to fight against the warping of reality are slim at absolute best.
