10 Marvel Characters Most Likely To Be Killed Off In Civil War II
5. War Machine
The same "leaked" plot details which indicated that She-Hulk would meet her demise in Civil War II also mentioned War Machine, and he too apparently dies when going up against the Mad Titan Thanos. It's that which leads Iron Man to swear revenge on Captain Marvel and bring an end to her plans to stop future crimes, and regardless of the accuracy of that report, this makes perfect sense and should definitely be part of the story. After all, War Machine is far from an essential part of the Marvel Universe, and the recently released trailer for Captain America: Civil War indicated that he he probably won't be making it out of that alive either. The fact is, whether it comes at the start of the story or some other point, Tony Stark needs some sort of motivation to argue against a method of fighting crime which could save millions, and the death of his best friend fits the bill. Marvel has tried and failed to make War Machine work in his own series on a number of occasions and none of those sold well, so it's not like his death would generate a lot of controversy or backlash.
