Marvel Comics

Frank Castle, otherwise known as the Punisher, is the Cosmic Ghost Rider of Earth-TRN666. When he was killed by some falling debris after Thanos chucked the Hulk into a building, Castle found himself stuck in Hell. Wanting nothing more than to exact vengeance upon Thanos for destroying his world, he made a deal with Mephisto to become the newest Ghost Rider and be reborn.

Upon returning to Earth, he found all life destroyed and Thanos gone, which sent him into a bit of insanity thanks to the unending loneliness. Ultimately, he met up with Galactus who came to Earth for help, not realizing everyone was dead. Castle offered the dead planet in exchange for becoming his new herald and Ghost Rider became Cosmic Ghost Rider.

Galactus and his new herald traveled the cosmos thwarting Thanos' murderous rampage against all life, but things don't go well when they finally met him centuries later. Galactus was easily killed and Thanos recruited Castle to join him.

He later retrieved Thanos from much earlier in his timeline, and thanks to a lot of time-travel shenanigans, Frank ended up raising a baby Thanos with the intention of raising him to be slightly less evil.
